Second worker found dead in UOB basement
Second worker found dead in UOB basement - Another worker who became trapped in the flooded basement of
Plaza UOB on Jl. MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta — who has been identified
as Herdian Eko, 27, (previously reported as Herdianto) -- was found dead
on Saturday afternoon.
A member of Herdian’s family, Medi Rustam,
said that Herdian, a janitor with PT Anyer Indah, had been found by
rescue team personnel from the Jakarta Fire Fighters and the Navy at 3
p.m. on the third level of the basement.
“We are relieved that his
body has been found. He was an orphan. The body has been taken to the
Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital,” he said.
On Saturday morning, the
rescue team had found the body of janitor Abdul Haris Agus, who had been
trapped in the building’s basement since Thursday.
Two other trapped victims, Tito and Tri, were found alive and are now receiving medical treatment.
Building
management representative Bangga Irwan Jaya said they were optimistic
that Herdian was the last person trapped in the basement.
“We are
sure that there were no more people trapped down there. However, some of
the rescue team members will be on stand-by until the water recedes,”
he said as quoted by tempo.co.
